America Is All In, a program of World Wildlife Fund (WWF), is seeking an established and dynamic communications professional to serve as the initiative’s Communications Specialist. This position will play a critical role in helping to deliver a wide-ranging communications strategy on the most expansive group of leaders ever assembled to advance climate action in the United States, during a time when bold action is more important and more possible than ever.
All In members include thousands of U.S. cities, states, tribal nations, businesses, schools, and institutions of faith, health, and culture that work together to champion a whole-of-society approach to addressing the climate crisis. All In seeks to build stronger engagement by subnational and non-state actors to influence regional, federal, and international climate policy so that they can implement equitable climate action in their jurisdictions and institutions.
Major Function:
The Specialist, Communications (Specialist) will help execute day-to-day communications efforts for America Is All In across the initiative's various workstreams. The position will play an outsized role in shaping and delivering a wide variety of storytelling assets that complement and enhance the coalition’s policy efforts and messaging objectives. The role will involve managing video, photography, and asset production, crafting communications narratives, and contributing to messaging documents.
Salary: The expected compensation range for this position is $62,200 - $77,800
Works with the Communications Manager to execute communications strategy for the America Is All In coalition and manages collaboration between communications staff and All In partners and contractors who manage media outreach and provide broader communications support
Lead the creation of content and the management of America Is All In content platforms, including social media accounts, the America Is All In website, and creative collateral including videos, web stories, photographs, etc.
Manages the development and execution of America Is All In storytelling efforts, including sourcing stories, assigning stories to partners and/or contractors for creation, and working with media support to design distribution and advertising plans
Works with content experts and relevant leads to ensure a steady drumbeat of coalition newsletters, action alerts, and constituency-bulletins are sent out with newsworthy analysis, timely information, actionable resources, and any relevant communications materials (e.g. talking points, messaging documents, social toolkits); identifies communications opportunities for all priorities of the All In strategy, including robust climate justice elements
Strengthens relationships and establishes partnerships with a broad ecosystem of climate communications professionals and organizations focused on pursuing ambitious, optimistic, broad-based climate narratives in line with America Is All In
Provides communications support for major public events pertaining to the All In strategy, including but not limited to in-person regional convenings, UNGA and Climate Week NYC, and the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) COP events
Interacts regularly with representatives of WWF-International, or other WWF offices and associate organizations, to further collaboration with the international WWF network on climate and energy work; align communications efforts with the Alliances for Climate Action initiative
Represents WWF and America Is All In in relevant meetings of communications professionals
Performs other duties as required or assigned
Bachelor’s degree with 4 - 6 years of professional experience in communications, climate policy, or other relevant areas; or a master's degree with 2 years of professional experience is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues both verbally and in written form is required. Knowledge of climate change issues is strongly preferred; specific expertise in U.S. climate policy will be highly valued. Ability to integrate environmental justice priorities is required.Project management experience related to communications in a non-profit or public-sector environment is required. Proficiency with Monday and other project management tools is preferred. Experience with policy communications in the context of rapidly changing news cycles is highly valued. Must have the ability to set priorities, manage a multitude of details simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively in a matrixed team environment. Must have proficiency with Microsoft office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Proficiency of graphic design and video editing with creative software tools is highly valued.Fluency in Spanish or in a second language is preferred.
