What you will be supporting: DRT will engage local health centers to support their data modernization efforts and advancing the outcomes of their patients while ensuring culturally appropriate approaches that respect local values and data sovereignty.
What are we looking for? The Communication Specialists works directly with content strategists, public health scientists, data engineers, researchers, and product managers to provide communications support to public health modernization projects and is responsible for engaging with rural local health organizations and facilitating their input on the Center’s work. This includes recruiting local representatives to identify data opportunities and challenges, conceptualize related solutions, and building workforce capacity for sovereign adoption and use of new data access solutions.
Fun stuff you will do on the job: • Develop communication plans based on communication strategies.
• Uses effective communication channels, frequencies, and messaging to reach target audiences.
• Uses text, visuals, and multi-media to construct compelling outreach materials
• Assists in developing speeches, presentations, communication materials, and briefings.
• Participate in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of communication and marketing plans and strategies.
• Produce communication products, tools, events/activities, and resources to engage internal and external audiences.
• Review and provide substantive and editorial feedback on fact sheets, web content, presentations, reports, manuscripts, talking points, and other communication materials designed for external and internal audiences.
• Develop content and provide review and oversight for Internet and social media channels.
• Respond to inquiries from internal and external audiences.
• Prepare communication materials, updates, activities/events, reports, and campaign material for internal and external audiences.
• Provide training on developing success stories through key partnerships, and collaborations.
• Work closely with other IT professionals, project managers, and business units to support communication-related projects and initiatives
This is you: • At least five years of experience leading communications campaigns
• Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Must be well-organized, proactive, and works well in a team-setting
• Skilled in digital and non-digital communications
• Skilled in translating public health information, data, and concepts to functional technical requirements
You will wow us even more if you have these skills: • Tribal community involvement experience
• Public health project experience
Education & Training: • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public health, or related field

Currently due to the remote working status of the federal government, most DRT employees are teleworking from home and leveraging video conferencing along with other virtual productivity tools. Under normal circumstances, most of our positions are required to report onsite. However, DRT has not yet determined when employees will be required to return to their onsite workspaces. Please be aware that at the time a date is determined to return to the worksite, the requirement of this position may be to report in person to the work location.
