Phlebotomist 

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses.  PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency.  PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare.  Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Obtains blood and specimens by performing venipuncture, finger sticks, and other methods of collection based on provider order.  Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following facility policy and procedures, and observing appropriate infection control practices.  Prepares blood/specimen in accordance with contracted laboratory guidelines.  Manages medical supplies and patient care items, including ordering.

• Phlebotomy Certificate or LPN license
• 2 plus years of experience
• BLS
• Venpuncture Experience
• Lab/Specimen preparation
• Supply Ordering
• Participate in annual required health and safety initiatives – including but not limited to, PPE use, fit testing, annual TB screening, and annual respiratory illness protocols.
• Assist in the welcoming and orienting of new team members.
• Project professionalism through following personal appearance policy.
• Other duties as assigned by Nursing Leadership.
