Job Description

Tester Engineer (software tester)

One day onsite a week

Grant Leading Technology is seeking a candidate for a Software Tester to join our dynamic team. The candidate will develop/modify, document, and execute test scripts, test cases, and test scenarios based upon software requirements definition, in concert with the business process analysis and customer-driven change requests. This position utilizes testing knowledge and experience to assess and advise the Test Lead/Manager on the progress of the testing activities. The Tester will also design, develop, and deploy automated tests in a system acceptance testing (SAT) environment . This will include automated execution, automated result reporting, test data management, and defining standard processes. This position will be responsible to proactively identify build/release pipeline bottlenecks, diagnose, and resolve build failures, and discover new efficiencies. T his position will be mostly remote, but you will have to go onsite, Lanham, MD, one day a week, and the hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm EST.   

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document test cases
  • Ensure systems and enterprise capabilities comply with requirements and standards through formal verification methods.
  • Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
  • Perform analysis of test results and prepares evaluation reports and risk assessments
  • Evaluate discrepancy reports and perform integration testing to validate incorporated fixes affecting systems and enterprise capabilities
  • Provide direct, interfacing support to the customer for system integration, test, evaluation and transition activities
  • Independently develops and executes test scripts to ensure quality software is provided for production release and to certify system changes.
  • Produces expert-level test plan documents and requirements.
  • Develops test control databases.
  • Performs solution testing confirming business requirements.
  • Maintains test databases and ensures their integrity and currency.
  • Distributes test data from the control database to development staff to satisfy adequate unit testing.
  • Develops, compiles, documents, and runs automated test scripts and test procedures.
  • Runs regression tests.
  • Perform manual testing.
  • Tracks status of defects.
  • Provides quality assurance testing for all systems to ensure the development and distribution of quality products.
  • Assists with the roll-out of systems documentation.
  • Produces lists of defects to be resolved and incorporated into future releases of the application as required.
  • Communicates with analysts and programmers about formal testing plans, problems, and results.
  • Develops technical documentation and reports.
  • Manages the Release Management process for all changes to the baseline IT infrastructure. Ensures all procedures are adhered to appropriately throughout project lifecycles.
  • Ensures all existing processes are fully documented, suggesting improvements, updating documentation, and communicating all process changes to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Information Technology or related fields (additional years of experience considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Four (4) plus years of relevant experience in the IT field
  • Three (3) years of experience with software testing
  • Able to identify and communicate program risks and recommend mitigation.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Cisco contact center applications
  • Must be US Citizen and able to pass background check

Preferred Skills:

  • Have Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance
  • Experience with the following IRS applications a significant plus: MeF (Modernized e-File), ITPE (Individual Tax Processing Engine), RRP (Return Review Program), BDOC (Business Document Specific Programs), BMFERS (Business Master File Error Resolution System), GUF (Generalized Unpostable Framework), Notices, IMF (Individual Master File), BMF (Business Master File), CADE2 (Customer Account Data Engine 2)
  • Additional Desired Skills
    • Knowledge of current IRS tax administration software applications is a significant plus.
    • Rational CLM tools (Quality Manager, Team Concert, Doors Next Generation)
    • IBM Mainframe
    • IBM Time Share Option (TSO) and related skills required to perform duties on the IBM Mainframe
    • Control-M
    • Unisys Mainframe
    • DB2
    • Informatica Business Objects
    • Java, SQL, and XML
    • Automation experience
    • Experience with TOAD
