Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager
Summary:
Wastewater Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the industrial wastewater treatment plant to ensure the safe, efficient and economical treatment of wastewater. This position will execute the policies and assignments received from corporate management and compliance requirements defined by state & federal regulating agencies. To be successful, the Plant Manager must have demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement programs.
This particular site is a Class IV, NPDES plant with an average discharge of 1.5 MGD. This operator will provide leadership over a team of 6-8 employees, providing 24/7 coverage.
Finally, this person will represent our company and interact with customer senior leadership.
Duties To Be Performed:
* Provides leadership, mentoring and supervision of the plant personnel
* Oversees operation of facilities to meet all applicable regulatory requirements and in accordance with design criteria
* Implements techniques and methods of process control which increase plant efficiency
* Meets financial goals and obligations (P&L responsibility)
* Confers with corporate engineering and operations on operational problems
* Oversees the preventive maintenance program
* Implements and enforces plant safety and risk management programs
* Determines the requisition of appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and services
* Reviews and approves all plans for construction, repair, or replacement of any components
* Implements training activities, as identified and/or required
* Approves annual operating budget and manages variances
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of and ability to apply policies and procedures
* Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of wastewater treatment plant components
* Knowledge of the mechanical, biological, and chemical processes involved in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant
* Knowledge of the occupational hazards in wastewater treatment plants and safety measures to be implemented
* Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of sound management and budget
* Ability to plan and direct the work of subordinate employees
* Ability to operate and maintain equipment used in the wastewater treatment process
* Ability to recognize needed repairs
* Ability to perform, analyze, and interpret laboratory tests for the purpose of making operational adjustments
* Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels
* Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings pertaining to plant expansions and improvements, and
* Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language

Required Training and Experience
Certified as a Class IV licensed is preferred, but will train and license the right candidate. This position requires an education in WWT operations, sanitary engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 6 years' experience in plant operations, including 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Other combinations of experience and education, which provide the knowledge and skills required to perform the job, may be considered.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
* An understanding of how to read financial statements
* Experience with biological wastewater treatment processes, to include: DAFs, belt presses, anerobic digesters, sand filters, membrane filters, primary/secondary clarifiers and secondary aeration processes, and
* Knowledge preventative maintenance software.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
